2026 School Board Election
Election Day is Wednesday, October 28, 2026.
Nominations for the 2026 Park West School Division Board of Trustees election officially closed on September 22, 2026.
Where Voting Will Occur:

Elections will be held in Ward 6 and Ward 9 on Wednesday, October 28, 2026. Polling stations will be open from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM. Voting locations include Strathclair, Newdale, Elphinstone, and GBH Hall / Drop-In.
Acclamations:

Trustee candidates in Wards 1, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, and 10 ran unopposed and have been declared elected by acclamation. No voting is required in these wards on Election Day.
Ward 2 Notice (Vacancy):

No nominations were received for Ward 2 during the initial nomination period. A by-election process for Ward 2 will be initiated following the October 28 general election.

Candidates' nomination papers are required to disclose any offences that they have pleaded guilty to, or been found guilty of, under the Criminal Code (Canada), the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (Canada), the Income Tax Act (Canada), or the Income Tax Act of Manitoba.

In accordance with The Municipal Councils and School Boards Elections Act,
the Voters List for Park West School Division is open for revisions.
The Board of Trustees
School boards are elected bodies responsible for overseeing the planning and delivery of educational services within specific geographic regions. The structure, responsibilities, and obligations of school boards are defined by provincial legislation, primarily through The Public Schools Act and The Education Administration Act. Within the framework of these laws, school boards also function at the governing level, with the authority to establish local policies.
The Park West School Division Board of Trustees is entrusted with several key functions, including policy determination, setting the organization’s strategic direction, and developing the annual budget to support educational goals. Their role is primarily focused on high-level governance, ensuring these policies and strategies are effectively implemented. Rather than engaging in the day-to-day operations, the Board emphasizes long-term decision-making that steers the division towards its broader goals and ensures continued educational excellence.
Trustee Indemnities
Trustees are paid an indemnity as compensation for their work on behalf of the Board. The indemnity is paid monthly and trustees are not expected to record the regular meeting hours. The annual indemnity ranges from $6,675 to $8,700 depending on the position held.

The mission of the Manitoba School Boards Association is to enhance the work of locally elected school boards through leadership, advocacy and service, and to champion the cause of public education for all students in Manitoba.

Important Deadline: All revisions and Personal Security Protection applications must be submitted prior to September 20, 2026.
